Long day on the road today, we are in Hervey Bay for the next three nights. We are about 3-4 north of Brisbane. The area is famous for whale watching, and also is the very southern point of
We stopped many times on the drive up here. First was at a famous beach called Noosa Heads; it was packed with people, we had a quick beer at the Surf Club and then high-tailed it out of there! (see beach picture)
Next we drove out of our way about 50 Km to visit Tin Can Bay. The next pictures are from there, very quiet, hardly anyone out there. We had a little picnic on the bay, took a walk, enjoyed the peace and quiet.
Another hour or so of driving brought us to Hervey Bay. We booked a resort at the last minute without knowing much about it. It was a great rate, so we took it. Turns out to be a really nice resort, condos, we ended up with a 2 bedroom because all the 1 bedrooms were taken. I'm headed to the wonderful bathroom to have a relaxing shower and get some sleep. We plan to do a whale watching boat trip tomorrow, then on Tues. will fly over the reef to lady elliot island, where we'll snorkel, reef walk, have lunch, etc. More later.
