On Thursday we drove the quick 40 minutes south to Byron Bay, a famous vacation/surfer spot. We visited a couple that had been in Gunny in Jan. 2008. We had a great day looking around Byron, eating a lovely lunch in their beautiful home, and doing a bit of shopping. The lighthouse and view of the bay are from there.
On Friday we hit the "mountain" roads again (in parens. because to US they seem like HILLS!). We stumbled on the cutest cafe/arts & crafts gallery located in 2 renovated Sydney rail cars, had coffees, scones with Devonshire cream and carrot cake. We drove very steep and curvy roads, saw wonderful views (again!!) and hiked at the waterfalls. Saw our 4th kukaburra in the wild.
On the way home we drove out to the end of Fingal Head, which is a long, narrow peninsula that hugs the shore just east of where we are staying.
We may take a little break for the weekend, Lou needs to do some TriState stuff, and we could definitely use some clean clothes! Maybe laundry day for me? And I bet a quick drive to one of the local produce/craft markets that happen on Sat. a.m.
