AND THE YARD WORK BEGINS....

So, here we have a gorgeous day in the valley!  We should be golfing, but NOOOOO...... starting the yard work.  We need some strong young boys to help us!!!   There's something just SO WRONG about old people doing heavy yard work ;-(

How we know it's time to start working:
1.  Snow is all gone
2.  Yard is full of dog, deer and goose poop.
3.  Dandelions already popping up.
4.  River is rising.
5.  Branches and leaves cover the new grass.
6.  Geese have returned to the yard.

Lou starts the big work of raking and hauling debris.

Raking is my passion....NOT! The tree stump on the right is left from a huge old cottonwood we took down; now we're looking for a chainsaw artist to carve it into something cool.

These two have been coming here every spring for many years.  They have never had any baby geese.  So what's up with that?  Are they sterile?  Gay?  Too old?  I need more info.

The "burn" pile is getting huge!!  It's always an exciting day when Lou lights it up!

CHIVES.  I put one tiny plant in my herb garden 20 years ago, now they are EVERYWHERE!!!  I just can't get them to stop growing in the patio cracks

And finally, my CRACK BABIES.  This delphinium and columbine grow every year in crack between the patio and the house foundation.  They get huge, they are about 20 years old.  Talk about perseverance!!!
